Some Electrifying Finding's about Perfumes
A recent study held in Duke University, United States of America on Psychology of Fragrance Use, revealed some interesting finding's on
the perception of individual odor and perfume blends which reveals a mechanism for idiosyncratic effects on fragrance choice.
Studies
reveal that the
odor mixture
of an individual's body
odor and their preferred perfume was perceived as more pleasant
than a
blend of the same body odor with a randomly-allocated perfume, with no difference in pleasantness
between the
perfumes.
• Studies reveal
that odors
could be effective
even at concentrations
below conscious levels. •'Sweet' odors increase
pain tolerance,
while a common detergentperfume changes spontaneous cleaning behavior.
• Odors can affect judgments of faces at both
threshold & subliminal
levels.
• It has been
proposed that
using perfumes
serves to indicate
cleanliness, social
status & personality.
