Description

Fender Deluxe Reverb Amp Pedal

The second in the new Legend Series is the FDR-1, based on the Fender 1965-era Deluxe Reverb — a coveted tube amp known for its natural touch-responsive and distinctive snappy overdriven sound. In conjunction with Fender, BOSS designed this stomp box to recreate the legendary tone of the 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb amp. Features include the same controls on the original Deluxe Reverb; Level, Gain, Treble, Bass, Vibrato, and Reverb. The FDR-1 also functions perfectly as a “pre-gain pedal” placed before an already overdriven amp to add the tone character of the Deluxe Reverb.

That's Good Stuff

One of the best from Boss! Sounds very close to a '65 Deluxe Reverb (of course you dont get the tone and nuances exactly as same as the real amp) but it's a very well designed "amp-in-a-box" version of it. The on board reverb is decent upto a point, not too digital sounding. But the built in vibrato, along with it's tap tempo feature, really make it great. The vibrato function is just spot on! Other than that, the EQ is good, very responsive and so are the Level and Gain knobs. And as all other pedals are, this too is built like a tank. Very robust and road-tough. The only thing I might suggest, is that maybe to get even close to the real amp, you could use a good compressor and/or eq pedal with this and maybe also plug this along with any other pedals that you may have into a really clean sounding amp like a Roland Jazz chorus or a Fender frontman series amp. Roland cubes work too! And yes, if this is in your pedal chain, I suggest you keep it last or second-to-last (ie if you have a delay keep it before it like I do) but hey, feel free to experiment. So, if you're looking for a good fender-amp in a stompbox, go for this. -Parth. (Professional Musician and Music Teacher)
