I have not tried it with Data card. But with Wife Range extender and converting wired connection to Wifi hotspot, it works great. It has option to put in the USB data card, so it should work fine with that as well. Do some search on how to configure DIR-505 for data card and then go ahead for buying.

No, it doesn't support any datacard dongle... it is basically used as a wireless repeater...it boosts ur existing wifi network. The USB slot in d device is used to share ur media files through a pendrive or external drive.
