About David Viscott
David Viscott was an author, noted psychiatrist, and entrepreneur.
He is also the author of Emotionally Free: Letting Go of the Past to Live in the Moment, How to Live with Another Person, What Every Kid Should Know, and Labyrinth of Silence.
He was born on May 24, 1938, and studied at Dartmouth College. He soon began his own private practise and later taught psychiatry at UCLA.
He was also the founder of the Viscott Center for Natural Therapy. He was one the earliest psychiatrists to have his own talk show on radio and provided free counselling on air. He even had his own TV show called Getting in Touch with Dr. David Viscott, before appearing on KNBC in a weekly show called Night Talk with Dr. David Viscott. The Making of a Psychiatrist, which was Viscott's autobiography became a huge hit and even received a Pulitzer Prize nomination.
