Great Indians: Surendranath Banerjea to Gandhi is a book on India's freedom fighters and greatest patriots. India had began its fight for Independence against the mighty British emperor in 1875 after getting thrashed by the British emperor in their first ever attempt of revolution in 1857. This book tells the long story of Indian Independence.
Synopsis
Great Indians tells us about the life and struggle of freedom fighters. India was under British colony for almost two hundred years. The very first attempt to fight back against them was the Sipahi Revolution in the year of 1857. The British government handled this revolution attempt ruthlessly as they executed thousands of Indians in the attempt to take things under control. Indian spirit was down for almost two decades after this incident before they re-emerged again in the year 1875 with the Vande Mataram hymn from Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay. Surendranath Banerjea emerged as a leader of political consciousness in the year 1876 and he influenced many Indians from different parts of the country to take up the mantle and this went on till the Arrival of Mahatma Gandhi to the political scenario in India. This book tells us about all the greatest freedom fighters of India and their influence in getting our most precious freedom back.
