Description
The term Blood Pressure refers to the pressure exerted by the circulating blood on the arteries. The blood pressure in the circulation is principally due to the pumping action of the heart. During each heartbeat, blood pressure varies between a maximum (systolic) and a minimum (diastolic) pressure. During the contraction of the heart it sends out blood into the body. This is referred to as Systolic. The pressure that is created as the heart pulls blood back through is Diastolic.

Functioning
This kind of digital upper-arm sphygmomanometer uses the oscillometric method to measure the blood pressure and pulse. Oscillometric method is the measuring of the fluctuations in pressure. To do the same, wrap the fitted cuff around the upper-arms. Once that is done, the monitor fills up the cuff with air.
