Synopsis

Motorcycle Diaries is the diary of a 23 year old Argentine doctor student named Ernesto Guevara who starts exploring North America in a bike with his friend Alberto Ganado. They used motorcycle for their travel. They underwent this journey in 1951-52 and crossed the Andes to reach Chile. Then they visited Venezuela, Peru and Columbia. The book tells us about the several facets of life that Che had faced through his journey. The book reveals gradual mental change in Che over the time period of years. Che was from a middle class background and then had to face the grim realities of South America. He came across many poor people who lived in the interiors and saw their struggle and pain. He also came across a leper colony and saw their unlucky condition as well. This suffering gradually moulded himself into Marxism.

Ernesto Che Guevara was an Argentine revolutionist and Marxist. He was known to the world by his nickname Che. He was a physician, leader, gorilla tactics expert and played a huge role in the Cuban revolution.
