The Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Cord is a wired release cable which adds greater convenience and ease of use in a wide variety of shooting situations, including long exposures and close-ups. By using a remote cable you can reduce camera shake, which results in sharper images. The remote also features a lock, which keeps the camera shutter in Long Time Exposure (Bulb) mode.
The Nikon MC-DC2 Wired Remote Control is designed to wirelessly control the shutter-button of select Nikon digital SLR cameras (including the D90, D3000, D3100, D5000, D5100, and D7000 as of August 2011). The MCD-DC2 features an attached 41 inch cord terminated by a proprietary connector which plugs into the Nikon D90 remote terminal. The MC-DC2 can be used to operate the camera remotely when taking photographs at close range and in other situation in which the slightest camera movement would produce blurring and to keep the shutter-release button pressed for long exposures (bulb) and burst photography. The camera responds to the shutter-release button on the MC-DC2 as it would to the shutter-release button on the camera body. The MC-DC2 shutter -release button can be locked in the full-pressed position by sliding the lock to the Hold position.
