Pacific Warriors II: Dog Fight is a flight simulation game that puts you in the seat of a
classic fighter plane during the action-filled Pacific conflict between the
Americans and the Japanese during World War II. The game was released by Midas
Interactive Entertainment for the PS2 in 2004.
The focus is on action, not true-to-life flight simulation, but an adrenaline
rush as you roar through the skies to take out your next target. Choose your
side – American or Japanese, and follow a historically based time flow through 25
missions in each campaign. Pacific Warriors II: Dogfight for the
PlayStation 2 is based on the PC version developed by Interactive Vision Games
in 2003/2004.
The graphics of the game are superb. When something blows up, if you are quite
close, a huge cloud of smoke and forces you away, and when the smoke clears,
your plane is covered in soot. Each of the four playable planes looks
distinctly different, and all of the battleships do to. When you fly into the
sun, it is so bright, you find it hard to see. The best thing about the
graphics though, is when you dive, visible contrails come out of the tips of
the wings and is breathtaking to watch from the different views.
In Pacific Warriors II Dog Fight, you can play either as an American pilot or a
Japanese pilot. Each mission takes place in a superbly detailed environment and
the two separate sides are linked so that if you play the Japanese, you maybe
have to defend your base against the Americans, and if you play the Americans,
you have to attack the base. There are over fifty levels to play as you
defend against and attack Anti Tank guns, battle ships, planes, vehicles, and
enemy towns. There is a lot of fun to be had in this game.
The sound is also amazing. Very good war like music plays in the
background and explosions are very realistic as they are almost
deafening. Once you have mastered the controls of the game, you will be
surprised at what you can make your plane do. Pacific Warriors II Dog Fight is
a brilliantly created fighter aircraft game with some of the most interesting
story lines ever seen in a game.
