The VSX-823-K is ready to pass through 4K Ultra HD video signals to a compatible display, meaning it can support home cinema systems dedicated to producing the highest quality picture available today. For convenience, you can easily (and without dock) connect your iPod, iPhone, iPad to enjoy digital audio and analogue video. Via the front MHL compatible HDMI connector you can hook up an Android smartphone for digital audio and video. The receiver will even upscale your SD and HD videos stored on your mobile device to Full HD. In addition to MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC and WAV music file playback, this receiver now supports high resolution Apple Lossless and AIFF music files. On top of this you get the Pioneer ControlApp for your Android or Apple device, AirPlay, vTuner Internet Radio & DLNA support.

ALIGNING CHANNELS WITH PHASE CONTROL

DSD PLAYBACK
The VSX-823-K can play high-quality DSD (Direct Stream Digital) audio files from SACD discs via HDMI.
PLAYABLE PC AUDIO FILES
Various music files can be played via USB, DLNA and AirPlay, with support for gapless playback. You can enjoy up to 192 kHz/24-bit high-resolution FLAC, WAV, and AIFF audio, as well as 96 kHz/24- bit/Apple Lossless compressed music files. * Gapless playback only available for DLNA 2-Box Pull and USB memory playback.
ECO MODE
Pioneer's intelligent ECO Mode comes in two settings. ECO Mode 1 features moderate energy saving operation while maintaining high-quality sound. It is ideal for CD music, 2ch audio files, and internet radio. The higher energy-saving ECO Mode 2 features moderate sound quality, and is suitable for content with dynamic sound such as movies (multi-ch/2ch) or live concerts. The ECO Mode can be accessed in three ways - from the front panel, remote control, or the ECO Manager on iControlAV2013/ControlApp.
ULTRA HD (4K) PASS THROUGH
The feature lets you take advantage of the highest quality video source, by passing through 4K signals for viewing on a compatible display.

The VSX-823-K supports 36-bit Deep Colour, featuring smooth gradation steps with more accurate precision of brightness and colour information, resulting in superbly detailed, natural colour.
X.V.COLOUR
The VSX-823-K supports x.v.Colour, which almost doubles the range of colours (known as the "gamut") that can be accurately captured, and reproduced on a compatible display, thereby more closely matching the natural characteristics of the human eye. * "x.v.Colour" only available for playback of discs recorded with AVCHD devices.

USB-DAC
The AV receiver allows direct USB connection with a computer*, without having to access the home network. What’s more, signal transfer is done with USB asynchronous transfer mode, which controls the transfer process using its high-accuracy clock instead of syncing with the clock on the PC-side, ensuring high-quality sound reproduction.
