Background: An open world Western action and adventure video game, Red Dead Redemption is the story of a former outlaw John Martson, whose journey the player follows when the government takes his wife and son as hostage in return for his service as a bounty hunter. Given no other choice, John must undertake a journey to bring justice for three of his former gang members.
Gameplay: In an open world game you play the role of the protagonist John Marston, interact with the environment and even engage in combat with enemies with the advantage of using various firearms. For transportation there are different breeds of horses with different attributes but player must first tame these horses in order to use them. To get from one place to another Marston can also use the trains where he can also stop the train by threatening or killing the passengers or driver.
The game also makes use of morality system, where the actions performed are judged depending on the good and bad deeds. The mechanics react in a way that the NPCs and other playable characters react toward you, honour or respect, notoriety or fear it all depends on the player’s actions. Player can even earn positive honour or respect by taking in outlaws alive and not harming them, saving people from being kidnapped and similar socially acceptable deeds. Notoriety is gained by committing crimes such as bank robberies and murders.
