Smart life companion.... loving it....
Note 3 has a 5.7 inch full high def screen, slightly larger than the Note 2 which had a 5.5 inch display. Inspite of the bigger screen, the Note 3 is lighter and thinner, weighing 168g and measuring 8.3mm thickness. It comes with a 2.3GHz processor and 3GB of RAM. The battery is 3200mAh, which ensures that there's enough juice to power the big bright screen, and also for running all the apps.
It has 4G LTE for high-speed internet connections with support for the fastest category 4 4G. Striking back at all the criticism that Samsung has been receiving about the plastic feel of their smartphones, the Note 3 rear is set in a textured leather effect edged in fake stitching and a metal rim. Its equipped with a 13 MP camera at the rear.
Massive strides have been taken in developing the S Pen, stored away at the bottom of the phone. It no more is an accessory just to draw or scribble.
As soon as you pull out the S Pen, an Air command wheel appears on the screen, floating on top of the app or home screen. Another way to bring up the wheel is to hold the S Pen over the screen and clicking the button on the stylus. The wheel gives you shortcuts to features that use the stylus.
In case you have a handwritten number and want to place a call to it, all you have to do is to draw a box around the number, and it would come up on your dialling screen. The same is the case with emails, addresses or link, draw a box around it, and it would bring up your email, maps or browser apps. Also in the Air command wheel is an option to save snippets. You can draw a box around something that you want to save, be it a webpage, image, YouTube video or text, and its saved to the app. You can edit the saved snippet or open the source Webpage again from the snippet.
Samsung has also worked on enhancing multitasking capabilities of the smart phone. With Multi Window, like in previous versions of Note, you can divide the screen in half and have any 2 apps from the list of selected apps run simultaneously. More applications have been added to support multi window. Using the S Pen you can make a selection of something you want to move to the other app, and then easily drag and drop.
Another feature in the Note 3 is the quick access apps. The quick access apps include the calculator, phone dialer, and the YouTube App. When you have a main app running behind, and you want to open a quick access app, it would open and float over the main app without disturbing the other app. When you minimize these quick access apps, they become a floating round icon, which can be pulled up easily.
With the S Finder you can search your Note 3, looking for files, music and photos not just by the names, but also by the dates and tags. You can also search handwritten notes, by symbols in the notes if any. For eg, if you have drawn a star in a note, using the S finder, you can draw a star and it would find the note with the star in it.
With the new Note 3 being bigger, Samsung has done justice with the increased size and really improved on the multitasking features of the phone. The leathery feel brings a real notepad feel when holding the phone, which Samsung was aiming for. How the phone fares when it lands in the hands of the user, is the real test
Highly overpriced. Wait for a month or two, price drop is inevitable. Overall device is perfect.
