Sony NEX-5K comes with the function of Full HD movie recording. The movies are recorded in MP4 format, making it convenient for you to post footages on blogs and video-sharing websites. It also supports AVCHD format, so that you can capture beautiful videos in 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution.

Intuitive Creative Control

Sony NEX-5K sports easy-to-use control wheel and soft keys so that you can control the camera quickly and never miss a moment. Simply press and rotate the control wheel to access shooting, flash modes and other camera settings.

iAuto mode convenience, plus Background Defocus Control

With iAuto mode and Scene Selection mode, you no more have to fuss over the camera settings. The NEX-5K will automatically choose the most suitable setting giving you optimal results. The Background Defocus Control function lets you truly enhance your photos. This function enables automatic defocusing of the background to ensure that the main subject stand out from the scene.

Graphical User Interface

Sony NEX-5K features an easy-to-access graphical user interface. You can select the labelled icons by rotating and pressing the control wheel. The wide-screen format of the LCD monitor offers enhanced menu legibility for texts and icons.

Bigger Sensor, Better Pictures

The NEX-5K has an APS-C image sensor which is 13 times the size of a typical sensor. The bigger sensor ensures that you get softer backgrounds, for better portrait shooting.  The large sensor also allows easy viewing even in the dark.

Auto HDR built into camera

The auto High Dynamic Range function of NEX-5K combines the best highlight detail from one shot and the best shadow detail from another to provide an excellent shot. With this in-built function, the camera can easily handle severe backlighting and other high-contrast scenes. You can capture shots in a split second.

920K pixel TruBlack LCD screen

Sony NEX-5K has an Xtra Fine LCD monitor featuring a TruBlack screen. The special resin layer on the screen suppresses internal reflections and increases contrast. You can easily review your shots on the screen in bright sunlight using the Sunny Weather mode.

Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO)

Sony NEX-5K boasts of Dynamic Range Optimizer that improves results with backlit subjects and recovers details hidden in shadows. It offers settings such as Auto, Level and Off.

BIONZ image processor

Inside the compact body of NEX-5K lies the powerful BIONZ image processor. Its chroma noise reduction provides high-resolution, low-noise photos even at high sensitivity. It ensures fast processing for continuous shooting up to 7 frames per second.
