Yes this is compatible with Windows XP.Am using it on Win XP sp3.Any drive compatible with XP will be compatible other upward windows system as this is WD elements latest version product.They have given an automatic back up software included.But it is a trial version.So one have to use and see its limitations.There are some other free back up software are available to try with.
