Excerpt from A List of All Those Who Are Known to Have Been Members of the First Church of Christ, in New London: From the Beginning to January 1, 1901
Up to the pastorate of Dr. Field, married females are designated by their family names, as well as by the names which they have acquired by marriage. The surnames of their husbands are usually printed in prefixed to their own name when they were married previous to uniting with the church, and affixed when they were married afterwards.
