Description

Synopsis A Thousand Splendid Suns is the best work of fiction written by Khaled Hosseini. It is a hauntingly written novel set in war-torn Afghanistan. It is exceptionally well plotted and opens the window on a part of the world that very few of us are familiar with. Set in Afghanistan, it is a story of childhood betrayal and its consequences it is a tale of two generations of characters brought jarringly together by the tragic sweep of war. It is a great story wonderfully told, it takes place in a land few of us understand, makes it educational as well as entertaining. About the Author Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, Khalid Hosseini is a New York Times bestselling novelist who wrote A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner, which has sold 4 million copies. When he was 11, his family moved to Paris, France. They were unable to return to Afghanistan due to the Saur Revolution. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in 1996. He practiced medicine for over ten years, until a year and a half after the release of The Kite Runner. He lives in Northern California with his wife, Roya, and their two children (Harris and Farah) .
