Description

Overview
The book An Era of Darkness: The British Empire in India talks about the atrocities of the British Raj and its humungous consequences on India social economic and political status.

Synopsis
The British ruled India for about 200 years, and during these 2 centuries, they crippled the Indian economy and wiped out all of the nation wealth through their policies and acts. The author Shashi Tharoor describes in detail how the policies of British Empire affected India and tells a gruesome tale of India systematic exploitation at the hands of the British masters. Tharoor also proves that the so-called benefits of British rule & such as the railways, post office, administrative system, cricket, and tea & were never meant for the benefit of Indians and were implemented for increasing the revenue of the Britishers. This book is a detailed and well-written analysis of the British rule and is an important document for students as well as history lovers.

About the Author
Shashi Tharoor is a noted Indian diplomat, politician, and writer. He served for 29 years at the United Nations and currently is a member of Parliament. He is also the recipient of Pravasi Bharatiya Samman award, which is the highest award for non-resident Indians.
