Description

The Parad Dakshinavarti Shankh, or Sri Lakshmi Shankh, is a sacred hindu object otherwise known as the conch shell with a reverse-turning spiral. When held with the spout pointed up, the conch's spiral will twist rightwards (dakshinavarti) rather than the far more common variety which twists leftwards (vamavarti). According to the Vedic scriptures, the Shankha is one of the most auspicious objects that emerged from the sea during the Ksheera Sagara samudra manthan. Hence it is regarded as the brother of Goddess Lakshmi, the ruler of wealth. Most of the Gods and Goddesses hold the Shankha in their hands. Shankh is one auspicious nine objects of Kubera who is the Lord of wealth. Parad Dakshinavarti shank are made on auspicious Mahurat and energized. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi resides permanently in conch that open on the right side (Dakshinavarti shankh). A right-sided conch shell is considered the younger brother of Goddess Lakshmi. Each and every altar shall have Dakshinavarti shank for Wealth and Prosperity.
