Description

This Miniature Painting is of Golden Jar Huqqa Base, Mughal Period. When tobacco reached the Mughal court in 1604, doctors warned that it was detrimental to the health. Nevertheless, smoking came in vogue, especially when inhaled through a purifying and cooling water pipe, or huqqa. Smoking became so popular during the seventeenth century in India, Turkey, and Iran that artist-craftsmen of great talent devised remarkable objects to augment its ceremonial pleasures: mouthpieces of jade, amber, or precious metal; splendidly adorned flexible tubes; opulent finials for the chillum in which the tobacco burned; and, above all, bases to contain water.

This is a Handmade Indian Miniature Painting on Handmade Paper with the use of other materials like Selfmade Brushes from Squirrels Hairs, Moulded Wooden Frame (without glass) & Paper Mounting This is a centuries old rare art and will adorn any decor and is ideal for Display, Collection & Gifting purpose. This Painting is made by Mr. Tilak Gitai who is a renowned artist from Jaipur, India and has got many prestigious awards & recognition in India & abroad for his work.
