The filter serves the purpose of filtering water. I have been using swach for the last 6 months. Cant complaint of any stomach ache etc due to impure water. The indicator warns you when the candle will exhaust. 2 drawbacks i can say: a. you will have to perfectly set the candle inside else water droplets will seep on sides, thus defeating the whole purpose of filtering. b The candle does not last long for a big family,let's say 4 members in a hot thirsty summer.

The product is not so good it doesnt seem to be purifying at all.. the water smells bad after filtering .it is not at all like the candle provided with new filter
