Completely different Phone. Fresh!!! Loving it... Definitely recommended for those who loves minimalist phone with a totally different environment. But still you can use everything after installing android support. Not at all recommended for those who are expecting a high end fully featured phone for this price. You have a lot many other options.

For those confused or hanging in balance as to purchase this product or not, please read on. If you are going to purchase a mobile above 12K then go ahead and purchase this. It's better than what any Android phone can throw at you. If you want details here they are: Design: 10/10 The almost rectangular look stands out from among the crowd. The first half is aluminium and The other Half plastic. But it is of top quality and it won't make you feel any less. Operating System: 9/10 Sailfish is a breathe of fresh air in the gutters of Android, Windows OS and iOS. There is a learning curve associated with the phone as they have done away with buttons and replaced it with gesture based interface. And it is exciting. You can multitask faster than ever!. The drop-down menus are fantastic. The phone doesn't come with any pre-installed apps as the makers of jolla decided to give full freedom to user. Most basic apps are already available on Jolla Store. Well if you want more, there are android apps! Yes it does support Android apps(most of them i.e 4.1 and above). Hardly any lags and movement is smooth. In fact at times I start wondering if this is a device from future as the interface is so beautiful. Hardware: 9/10 1.It boasts of 1 GB RAM which is suffcient for Sailfish powered mobile. 2.The camera is pretty good. Works good in low light too. 3.Battery backup is amazing. With 2G and some pretty standard usage it goes well over a day. With 3G it goes on from morning till night. 4.The accessories are good. The box does not contain Ear-phones which is OK considering we already have better ones most of the time. 5. Display is qHD meaning it is not 720p but it is enough to give some brilliant watching experience. My Experience has been great. People envy this thing even the ones having Galaxy S4 ! The company has not released a single mobile since the launch of this which implies that they are really working hard to make it a success, which it is. Please go ahead and purchase. You'll like it

A very good alternative

A very good alternative if your bored with android or windows. The battery stays for long but keep in mind when you put a memory card to it from your other phones it drains the battery. Format it and then use it. Well the one thing that needs attention now is the lack of native apps. Jolla has a long way ahead and I wish them good luck

Its a lovely phone, of course if you are used to android there is a learning curve to getting used to this, also frustration if you have favourite apps that are not available yet, really looking forward to integration with google play store for authentic paid apps

Average Phone with Worst Sailfish OS
by Rizwan Bhola on Oct 18, 2014

With very high expectations I purchased the Jolla phone. Though the phone has good entry level specs (as per today's standard), the worst part of it is the Sailfish OS. After using the phone for almost one month, the end results is frustration. It has very basic dialer, very basic sms features and very basic contact book. You cannot do anything simple, if you want to call a person who has send you an SMS, there is no option of Calling. It makes you highly unproductive. It looks like the feature of the basic functionality required every moment by any user is been designed by novice, student doing they college project. When you open a Contact Book, you are presented with Alphabets to select the contact. I have 1500+ contacts in my book and it is very common to have 1000+ contacts but the Sailfish OS team failed to provide the search directly on top. With only an additional step you can search your contacts. So waste more time. It also automatically dials the contact from the recent call list. People are calling me back asking if I had called them and why am I not speaking. If you have used iOS & Android phones in the past, your experience with Sailfish OS will be worst like me. When you long press an SMS message the only option you have is Delete. But what if I want to forward that message, NO OPTION.. SORRY..... The logic of 5 seconds to delete anything is gr8. Everytime you want to delete anything, you waste your precious 5seconds of your life, just to delete one message. WOW so highly productive feature of the phone. The Sailfish OS design team has failed to understand that 90% of the time, an average user will use his SmartPhone.. (for Jolla Unsmartphone) is for making calls, sms and using the contact book. WE ARE UNLIKE. They are really UN-LIKED by me.. And I personally feel by NOKIA too, and were shown the exit door. Gone out of their mind. Download ex-Dialer for Android and see the productive feature list it presents when you long press, your recent call list and your contacts. These are just few problems experienced by me. It has long list of problems in it. Basic applications required like TO DO LIST, TEXT MEMO, CALENDERS are missing. IT IS GOOD FOR JUNKYARD. JUST GOOD FOR NOTHING AND ONLY GOOD TO BE USED NOW AS EXPENSIVE PAPER WEIGHT. I AM SWITCHING BACK TO MY SAMSUNG GALAXY S2. Though now very old phone, I shall be more productive.

A phone which althoigh does not boast the same kind of hardware as other phones in this range, but still has the better performance owing to the sailfish OS making most of what is there.
