Altough I have Nikon 50mm 1.8 AF-D lens, I wanted a G-series which will autofocus on my D5100 and I find it perfect to shoot Portraits and indoor sports. Overall I would rate it 4.5 out of 5, would have rated it 5 out of 5 if it had VR on it.

Firstly thanks to Snapdeal for deliverying it on time. This is an excellent lens for portrait photography and i have the highest likes for the pics taken through this lens on FB :) I use an entry level DX camera and with that there are some slight drawbacks but nevertheless it is managable. With an FX body it is a beauty and you will really fall in love with the pictures. Overall i it a good lens and if you are little concerned about your pocket you can go ahead with 50mm f1.8g which is also equally good but may comprise on the depth of field.

One of the best potrait lens of Nikon...can be used in fx and dx Nikon cameras. Produce very sharp pictures with fantastic bokeh effect!!
