This is the lens which you can use for most of the photography genre.. Use it for portraits and you can play with the depth of field. Especially if you have a crop sensor camera then the relative focal length falls in 85mm range which is the sweet spot for portraits. From my experience I would say set you aperture somewhere in between 2.2 to 2.8 in case of outdoor portraits this will left the subject crisp and will give a good amount of Bokeh. Use it for street photography, as it's auto focus is noticeably fast you can truly get nice pictures. Night and low light photography is not an issue for this lens with its high aperture you can still use your camera handheld with higher shutter speed. I am also using this for indoor portraits and flower photography these things are also coming quite great with this lens. If you want a crisp picture then f/8 is the best but you can also use from 2.8. This is not the fault of this lens, this is just because with high aperture the depth of field gets shallower. If you validate this with 35mm f/1.8G then it depends upon your interests as this lens is not that much good for landscapes because of it's focal length. In that case 35mm is better. But normally 50mm has better bokeh output. For me this is the best cheap level lens falling under 10K, if you can manage a prime.
