Using since 3 months and it works all fine and better than my laptop's DVD writer, Must buy if you are looking for a under 1500 dvd writer

However, you can not write in 2X speed, Minimum speed is 10X. That is a draw back.

i have used this product for couple of months now and finding it easy to use. Read and write speeds are sufficient enough for home usage. Trey is little more flexible , i always fear of breaking it while opening or closing. Could have been a little more compact and sturdy. All in all a nice product at this price

I have pretty good faith in transcend so i ordered this ext USB DVD writer without thinking much. Received in very good package ..undamaged. Black color always looks nice. Built quality is very good. Sturdy writer with rubber studs makes it slip proof. For better performance it comes with Y cable. Read speed is good when compared to other external writers.(please do not compare speeds with internal units) It is bootable unit so easily gets detected in BIOS and can be set as 1st boot option. Very useful for NETBOOKS that do not come with optical drive. You can use with old desktop if the internal drive fails and you get only SATA drives these days. Just remember the cable provided is 15 inch long so you need to place the device accordingly. Above all transcend provides 2 years warranty while others provide just 1. Overall good unit to have.
