I don't know about other hard drives 'cause I've been using only Verbatim since last several years. They say usually hard drives don't get damaged unless you drop them down. So I'm not worried about not having a service centre for Verbatim locally though there is an online warranty for a limited period of time. This is my 3rd verbatim purchase & my 1st one (100GB) which I purched severl years ago is working perfectly even now without any hassles at all.

Slim and light weight. 200 GB data got copied in less than 25 mins. (through USB 3.0) ...speed of course is amazingly high! Had a poor expereince with Seagate and Western Digital. So this time preferred Verbatim. When I unpacked the box, I saw that this brand is of Mitsubishi!...I made a good choice indeed!
