I purchased this drive from Snapdeal and I am very happy to use it. I own a laptop of Apple and the best part of this WD 4 TB My Book Studio Edition II Drive is that it is Mac ready. It is formatted for use with Apple Mac computers and features Apple Time Machine compatibility, with plug-and-play support. The drive comes with Automatic backup software which lets you create a backup of your file every time you change it, without any manual intervention. It also features a capacity gauge which shows you how much space is available in your drive. Collected through an in-person interaction with the customer.

I was seeking for something which could take my libraries of iMovie and iPhoto as my drive of 1 TB for iMac was full. I decided to go for the 4TB WD My Book because it supports FIREWIRE 800 and has 2 x 3tb drives installed, which means that I can set up for one drive to mirror to the other, so that if one drive goes up in smoke, I don't lose all my pictures, music and movies. What attracted me to this unit was the ability to replace one of the drives if it does fail - without having to replace the whole unit or lose my data. Hopefully that day is a long way away, but at least I know I'm covered. The drive is ready formatted out of the box for the Mac and all I did was install the WD Drive manager software, connect the drive and set it to Raid 1 to mirror one drive to the other. Initial transfer of files took a while, however all was done without fuss and using it to watch movies via iTunes streaming to my Apple TV is all fine. Size wise it's not too bulky or big and doesn't look out of place next to my iMac. Overall it seems fine and is working without much heat being generated and is quiet compared to previous drives that I have. I am very pleased with its performance. I purchased this item for a TV edit. I didn't have good experience with it and had nothing but trouble with it for two weeks. I faced many problems with it. Some of the problems were like crashing of Mac book Pro, Media Sticky. On facing such troubles while using this device, I called WD support. I discussed the issues faced by me with them. On listening to these issues, they said that such problems are caused due to the RAID software of WD. This software is not capable of supporting Mountain Lion OS. So, the ones who have Mountain Lion OS, I would recommend them not to go for WD 4 TB My Book Studio Edition II Drive as I am not very satisfied with its performance.
