My laptop occasionally overheats and I figured I'd try it. Paid $11.99 when i am in abroad plus tax. Brought it home , plugged it in and it looked really cool. Very quiet. Can hardly hear it. It uses a USB port as its power source, but it uses an input/output type jack so you don't lose the use of that port. In other words, you can still plug a USB into it. I couldn't believe how well it seemed to work. I enjoyed its functionality for a whole FOUR HOURS before it FAILED. Yup. Four hours later (and I'm not talking four hours of continuous use. Maybe an hour on the computer, then a couple of hours in sleep mode while I did other things, then back on the computer for more work) the unit began making an awful sound like something was caught in one of the blades. I unplugged it and inspected it. Once the left fan stopped turning I saw it had a huge crack in it. There you go. Flimsy, cheap, poorly manufactured. Not AT ALL durable, considering its function. A laptop cooling fan manufacturer should take into account that the user is probably going to have this unit running for extended periods of time (otherwise there would be no need for additional cooling), so the fan SHOULD be made to withstand long hours of runtime without failing. For your info....the entire thing including the fans are made of cheap plastic, It's very light (which is convenient if you have to schlepp this thing in your laptop case, which is already heavy to begin with), but I'm certain that there are more durable, stronger, lightweight materials out there. Aluminum comes to mind. Some fans today are made of microfiber material which, if you stick your finger into it, won't hurt you, yet the blades do generate a breeze when spinning. I think the concept is good, but it needs improvement. Meanwhile, don't invest your money, however small amount it may be. It's flimsy, cheap, and won't last long enough for you to take a college exam. Buy a better quality one, or one you could actually return to the place of purchase. This one requires you to mail it back to the manufacturer (which would cost you more in postage than you paid for the unit, which, I'm sure they took into consideration when they printed that on the box, hence they can actually, truthfully say that none of the units were ever returned due to manufacturers defect). Call me a cynic, but I work hard for my money. I'm sure most do. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Thanks for reading.
