Description

Vol. 3 - Two Episodes (One hour each) 'The Dancing Men' Holmes is shown an unusual letter - with a pencil drawing of matchstick men dancing in a line. The letter belongs to Mr. Hilton Cubitt who claims that for some reason, the letter has frightened his American wife to death. Since he has pledged not to ask her anything about her life before their marriage, he now looks to Sherlock Holmes to solve this baffling mystery of the dancing men. 'The Crooked Man' In their private villa near the north camp at Aldershot, the raised voices of Colonel James Barclay and his wife can be heard above the thunderstorm. The door to the morning-room is locked, and when blood-curdling screams startle the servants, the colonel's batman rushes to the french windows. The colonel lies dead by the fender; his wife Nancy is in a faint. When Holmes and Watson question the house servants, they learn that on the night of the colonel's death, his wife spent some time doing charity work at a mission hall in town. On her return she sat, pale and upset, in the chilly morning-room. What had happened to Mrs. Barclay that evening? And what is the explanation of the unusual footprints which Holmes discovers outside the french windows?
