Description

Book Description
Touted to be the greatest novel ever written, Anna Karenina is the story of doomed love between Anna and Count Vronsky. Anna is a rebellious girl and she rejects the passionless marriage she has had to endure and as a consequence, she now has to face the hypocrisies of society. Her social isolation and Vronsky’s neglect force Anna to desperation. The many characters in the book provide a dynamism that helps portray the situations excellently.
About the Author
Leo Tolstoy was a Russian novelist and short story writer. His two novels, War and Peace and Anna Karenina are regarded as the two greatest novels ever written and a pinnacle of realist fiction. Many consider Tolstoy to have been one of the world's greatest novelists. His literal interpretation of the ethical teachings of Jesus, centering on the Sermon on the Mount, caused him in later life to become a fervent Christian anarchist and anarcho-pacifist.
