Originating in Kashmir, the Kashmiri Saffron is the world class saffron with warm flavour and a light aftertaste. This is the 'classical' saffron that most stores put on their shelves. Robusta flakes are grown in the southern parts of Kashmir, with a dark, rich flavour; This is the perfect leaf for making Kashmiri Kehwa, or any number of rich delicacies. Approximately 150000 flowers are needed for one kilogram of dried saffron; typically, one would need 2000 m2 field area per kg harvest.
