Description

BIOMES - ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES - OCEANS AND BEACHES SYNOPSIS Biomes have been present long before humans inhabited planet earth. Ever since man became aware of and understood the surroundings, he went into a deep study of the same. The biologists divided the living world into major zones and called it ‘BIOMES’. Each biome is a world in itself having its own distinctive climate, plants and animals along with human beings who have become an integral part of every biome. The entire series of biomes has been covered under twelve topics and each topic is in turn divided into two parts to provide in depth knowledge of each biome. The oceans and beaches are not just a pleasant place to visit – they are vital for the health of our planet. Today most of the scientists believe that life began in the ocean over three billion years ago. Oceans are mysterious. Deep down they are as dark as night. The temperatures are just above freezing point while in a few places, the temperature is hotter than humans can handle. But that doesn't mean that the ocean is quiet and empty. Yes Oceans are very much Alive!! Thousands of incredible and bizarre creatures have made it their home. Over 1 million known species of plants and animals live there, and scientists say there may be as many as 9 million species we haven't discovered yet. This program takes the viewer on a journey of discovery and understanding of Oceans and Beaches. It provides a window to look closely at the various aspects of the biome starting from climate of the biome to the future that is in store for it.
