The story goes like this-Dissidia is in trouble. Cosmos, the goddess of harmony, has announced a war against the God of Discord, Chaos. Both have called in warriors from different times and different universes to battle against each other. Playing as one of the warrior, you have to fight the on-going battle with hope and courage to bring back peace into Dissidia. Published and developed by Square Enix, Dissidia Final Fantasy packs in many interesting features. Featuring heroes and villains from first 10 Final Fantasy titles, Dissidia Final Fantasy is a gamer’s dream come true.
The story mode in the game is divided into 2 different parts that are named as Destiny Odyssey and Shade Impulse. Destiny Odyssey has 10 different chapters. Each chapter features the same story told from a different character’s viewpoint. The other playing modes in the game include the Arcade mode and the Duel Colosseum mode.
Combat is the spine of this game and it delivers it flawlessly. The 2 main components in combat include Bravery and HP. By using Bravery Attacks you increase your bravery against your opponents. Then when the time is right, you fight back with a HP attack which lowers your opponent’s HP. If you productively execute your attack, your bravery resets to zero. You repeat the above cycle again to further lower your rival’s HP.
The game also has a very interesting and influential feature called the EX Burst mode. This can be achieved if you systematically collect light particles that float around during fights. If you collect enough particles you can change into your character’s Ex Mode. In this mode if you successfully execute a HP attack and press the Square button in the process, you can perform a visually spectacular EX Burst defeating your enemy immediately.
You can wall-run, grind and even fly around the arena to intimidate you enemy. Each character has unique characteristics and powers. The Emperor sets traps to bring his enemies closer, while the Warrior of Light can be your best bet when indulged in close-range combat. The game features a wide range of modification options. This helps you in shaping your character as you deem fit. Your character grows in power with each level of customization, allowing you to learn more abilities.
The arenas in the game are huge, allowing you to mix and match a variety of fight moves. You can always keep your opponent guessing and strike him at very important points to win matches. You can experience some fantastic visuals elements in the game as it features a cinematic camera. The game has small but very clever additions that increase its overall value. One of them is the replay editor. This allows you to edit and stitch together your replays into custom movies which you can upload to YouTube for your friends to see.
You can battle your friends by using the Ad Hoc feature. Multiplayer has a feature which allows you to play your opponent’s custom created character. Playing the game in multiplayer will help you in winning cards and artefacts that are passed on from one player to another.
