The book pays attention to certain body types and their metabolism. The author identifies the four essential pillars for fitness as strength, flexibility, stamina and endurance. Get Size Wise: Training For Life For The Indian Woman also advises on how one can achieve optimum levels in each of these four pillars by laying out ideal exercise schedules, information tables and suggestions regarding the right diet. The author also says that a person should identify the signals that their body gives them and take steps that match their comfort level. She stresses that following the wrong fitness regime can do a lot of harm instead of doing any good. She also talks about how walking is quite a beneficial exercise and how the advantages of walking must be made known to children. Also, according to the author, lifestyle management is not only about exercise but also about the right food and a persons psychology. The author has included in the book a case study on the life of one of her clients who took to expensive fitness clubs, an extremely restricted diet and a medicine by the name of Lasix, to reduce her weight. It was observed that even though the client lost weight initially, she ultimately went back to her original weight and even had health problems due to the medicine she had taken.
About the Author
The author is a gynaecologist, fitness trainer, and an obstetrician. She runs a fitness studio called Training For Life in Chennai and Ooty. She is a lifestyle consultant and holds a certificate from the National Association of Fitness Certification (USA). She also works as a volunteer at childrens and womens organizations, teaching English and helping conduct workshops. She also writes articles on fitness in The Hindu. When she is not working, she enjoys trekking, cooking and travelling.,
