Background: God of War: Ascension, based on Greek mythology, is the seventh instalment in the God of War series and prequel to the entire series. This action and adventure video game has been developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE). This is a third-person single-player video game viewed from a fixed camera perspective.Synopsis & Feautures: In this series, the central idea of the game is vengeance, keeping up with the motive of the globally acclaimed God of War series. You play and control the protagonist Kratos who swears revenge after being tricked by Ares into murdering the only people he ever loved, his wife and child. Six months has passed since he stood over their bodies, in deep remorse he remembers standing with his hands stained with their blood. Seeking revenge Kratos breaks the blood oath that bound him to Ares, but any oath to Olympus cannot be broken easily. Damned and put in to solitary confinement, Kratos battles insanity at the hands of the furies. He will be tried and tested as he seeks freedom, redemption for his sins and the clarity to avenge his family. Most of the characters in the game are taken from Greek Mythology. Player is introduced to various environments, enemies and characters in the game. Player is required to climb walls, jump across chasms and slide down walls to move on in the game. The main weapon is the Blades of Chaos, a pair of blades attached to chains that are wrapped around Kratos' wrists. Swing the blades to attack enemies and like in previous games, a Rage mode is also included (it increases attack damage and different attack combinations). God of War: Ascension, like in previous games, features coloured chests - green, blue or red and each chest contains orbs or the corresponding colour. Green orbs replenishes the player's health, blue orbs replenishes magic while enabling further usage and red orbs provide experience, upgrades weapons and magic, provides new and more-powerful attacks. Red orbs can also be collected by destroying certain inanimate objects in the process of game.USP: In God of War: Ascension, players take on a journey and experience Kratos' quest for freedom based on an epic new story. The additional new combat and puzzle mechanics treats players to action packed fun. For the first time, God of War series introduces a multiplayer option fit for both casual as well as hardcore gamers. This also makes for a thrilling God of War battle online with 8-player objective based combat.
