Instead of lemon, one may try it with potatoes, other citrus fruit like orange or tomato.
Procedure of using this kit: Take 5 lemons. Roll them on a table, pushing on them with your hand. This breaks up some tissues in them. Push 2 metal strips (Copper and Zinc) in each of them. Connect Copper strip of one lemon to Zinc strip of the next using wires. This is Series formation. Connect wire from Copper plate of first lemon to the long terminal of LED (Light emitting Diode), i.e. Anode. Also connect wire from zinc strip of last lemon to short terminal of LED, i.e. Cathode. You will be surprised to find that the LED glows! The negatively charged Zinc strip (Cathode) has excess of electrons, which flow through the lemon (electrolyte) to the positively charged Copper plate. As we connect them in series, they produce electricity enough to glow LED.
