The racing game is set in the fictional Seacrest County designed to let players compete in several types of exhilarating races. It also includes additional game modes including Hot Pursuit, Interceptor and Race. A new social interaction system - Autolog is featured, it works as a network to connect with friends for head-to-head races and to compare online stats. Paid downloadable content in the form of new cars, new race and pursuit events and new trophies or achievements is also featured in the game.USP:
The game stays true to its Need for Speed series' roots by taking on the gameplay style of previous "Hot Pursuit" titles in the Need for Speed franchise by featuring exotic cars and high-speed police chases. Primarily inspired by the original Need for Speed on 3DO, players can either play cop or a racer which also features a full career mode for both roles. Exotic cars and high speed police chase the relationship between the cops and racer is described as a dog rabbit chase. Each side has several power-ups including calling for roadblocks and radar jamming.
