Description

The Sekonic L-398A Studio Deluxe III Flash Meter is a classic photo meter, which is highly sought after by cinematographers all around the world. With the help of the meter needle and exposure dial system, you can check out different reading combinations in a single glance. What more? It is powered by an amorphous photocell which generates its own power and thus you need not worry about buying batteries separately.

You can take incident measurements with the over 180-degree Lumisphere for general readings of three-dimensional objects, or with the Lumidisc selective area readings, which measures the lighting ratios between highlights and shadow areas or light falling on flat-field objects such as artwork, measurements outdoors or under bright studio lights. The swivel head of L-398A lets you hold down the metering button and "walk the set" to check light levels. Now, as soon as you release the button, the needle locks down the meter's analog display needle for easy-to-read exposure calculations. You can display exposures for both still and cine applications.

The Lumisphere is replaced by a flat Lumigrid particularly for reflected readings. If you plan on shooting with a fixed ISO and shutter speed, an optional Slide Set (Direct Reading Slides) allows you to take readings easily in fast-paced shooting scenarios. If you are a still or motion picture shooter, the Sekonic L-398A Studio Deluxe III is the perfect back-up meter for you.

Instant reading of full range of aperture/shutter combinations

You can view full range of exposure settings for both still and cine applications using the analog dial. The brightness level is indicated by analog needle in foot-candles.

Swivel Head to position incident dome and maintain full view of display

For best light reception, you can easily position the Lumidome as the meter body is positioned for best reading. The swivel head enables "walking the set" for checking the evenness of light levels.

Continuous reading plus needle lock for easy and accurate readings

To take continuous readings in varying conditions, you can easily press and hold the measuring button. In case you want to lock the analog needle in place for exposure calculation, simply release the measuring button.

Lumidisc for adjusting illumination contrast and measuring illumination intensity

You can use Lumidisc to take selective area readings or measure several lights for ratios between highlights and shadow areas. Also, it is used to measure light falling on flat-field objects such as green-screens and artwork.

Lumigrid for measuring reflected light

You can easily take reflected light readings of subject areas from the camera position by replace the Lumisphere with the Lumigrid. The provision of an optional Slide Set (Direct Reading Slides) lets you adjust the reading meter's reading range for bright subjects.

Memory pointer retains prior reading

If you wish to transfer brightness readings to the exposure dial, simply align the pointer with the analog needle. Following this, you can make a second reading to brightness of different lights to adjust light ratios.
