These product are made in Bihar by skilled artisans who take pride in their workmanship. Madhubani Art dates back to at least the 14th Century, since when women in Bihar have traditionally painted colourful auspicious images on the interior walls of their homes for special occasions. The medium used is the paste of powdered rice while colours used are derived from plants. This ancient tradition, especially elaborated for marriages, continues today.

Madhubani on Paper Mache traditionally belongs to the Madhubani District of Bihar. Mostly, more than one member of a family and sometimes even complete families are involved in the art. One artist completes a piece. Waste papers, Multani mitti, methi powder as insect repellant, and white gum like fevicol is used to create a paper mache artifact. Natural vegetable & plant dyes are used to produce the colors. Our this beautiful paper mache craft comes authentically from Salempur in Madhubani, Bihar.
