Synopsis


The Kite Runner tells a story of a person who is worthy of being called "a true friend". Amir and Hassan are two friends, the former being rich and the other son of a servant to former's father. Amir did not try anything to save his friend Hassan when he got beaten and raped by another boy, even though he had to face this ill luck for once saving Amir.

Driven by his pangs of conscience, he did even more bad by falsifying Hassan to keep him out of his sight so that he does not feel guilty. Hassan with his father leaves. Amir with his father settles in California due to political disturbances at hometown in Afghanistan. Amir gets married and spends 15 years but do not get blessed with a child. One day he receives a letter from once a loving friend of his father, informing him about Hassan.

Khaled Hosseini is an Afghan-born American novelist who is a physician as well. He penned 3 novels and all three of his novels are bestsellers.
