Description

The book is a rom-com and a good read for those who need a break from the heavy handed fiction and non-fiction. Written by Anuja Chauhan, the novel is entered around a fiery Debjani Thakur, one of the five daughters of Mamta Thakur and Justice Laxmi Narayan Thakur.

Debjani is a news reader on DD TV. She has a crush on Dylan, a journalist and the son of Laxmi Narayan Thakur’s friend. Even Dylan also falls for her. Both love each other but have to face lot of problems to be together.

Besides their love story, the tale also involves the other daughters of the Thakur family. The Thakurs have named their five daughters alphabetically. Elder one is Anjini, who though married is a habitual flirt, second daughter is Binodini, who wants property in name of her children. Third daughter Chandrakanta eloped with a foreigner on the eve of her wedding. Fourth is Debjani, a newsreader on TV and fifth daughter Eshwari is one of the popular girls at Modern School, Barakhamba Road, Delhi.

Each daughter is eccentric in her own way, making this book an interesting read. The family story picks up from New Delhi during the pre-liberalisation era and is full of colourful and lively characters. These characters in the story come in various shades of grey, but with some depth to their individual roles.

Different characters and their life stories are wonderfully inter-woven, giving clear impression of a typical Indian family. The story has misunderstandings, romance and suspense that leaves the readers thinking whether the main characters of the story will get together or not. Moreover, the book is full of countless humorous moments that make reading it great fun.
