Description

In The Mood For Love (2000)

This beautiful and evocative film is set in Hong Kong of 1962. Chow, a newspaper editor, moves into a building with his wife, where Li-zhen, a beautiful secretary and her husband, have also moved in. With their spouses often away, Chow and Li-zhen cross each others path, and a discovery of common tastes begins. Their worlds are turned upside down when they discover their spouses having an affair with each other. Hurt and angry, they seek comfort in one another. As the friendship grows into something more, they resolve not to go the path of their unfaithful mates. But can matters of the heart be controlled so easily ?

Happy Together (1997)

Lovers who are happy together are all the same. Lovers whose relationships fall apart are all different, unique in the ways they inflict emotional tortures on themselves and each other. Lai Yiu-Fai (Tony Leung Chiu-wai) and Ho Po-Wing (Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing) were in love when they arrived in Argentina from Hong Kong. But something went wrong while they were driving south in search of adventure.

Fallen Angels (1995)

A disillusioned killer embarks on his last hit but first he has to overcome his affections for his cool, detached partner. Thinking it's dangerous and improper to become involved with a colleague he sets out to find a surrogate for his affections. Against the sordid and surreal urban nightscape (set in contemporary Hong Kong), he crosses path with a strange drifter looking for her mysterious ex-boyfriend and an amusing mute trying to get the world's attention in his own unconventional ways.

Chungking Express (1994)

The movie comprises two different stories, told one after the other, each about a romance involving a policeman. Except for a brief moment when the first story ends and the second begins, the two stories do not interconnect. However, the three main characters from the second story each momentarily appear during the first.

Away with words (1999)

Asano has an amazing memory, with words forming tangible shapes, tastes and colours in his mind. Kevin, meanwhile, is a flamboyant, hospitable man who when inebriated, cannot even remember the name of the street he lives on. When the two meet, words end up being a burden in the relationship. Directed by the brilliant cinematographer Christopher Doyle, 'Away with Words' is an intoxicating melange of thoughts, emotions and images.
