Puja is a prayer ritual performed in the morning by Hindus to offer devotional worship to one or more deities, or to spiritually celebrate an event. Puja is the act of showing reverence to God through invocations, prayers, songs and rituals. It is performed either by individuals or by groups and either directly by a worshipper or indirectly by a priest on behalf of the worshipper. As of today, many people take liberties with their methods of worship to express their love and devotion to God in their own individual ways, but traditional pujas in Hinduism follow a structured format. Every aspect of it has a purpose and significance. It helps you concentrate your mind upon God and declare your faith in him in a heightened state of devotion.

Navaratri is a major festival of Hindus. Navratri is a Sanskrit word, which means 'nine nights'. During these nine nights, nine forms of Shakti / Devi are worshiped. Navratri festival is celebrated four times a year - from Pratipada to Navami in Chaitra, Ashada, Ashwin and Pausha month. Most prevalent Navratri is celebrated in Chaitra and Ashwin month and Gupta Navratri is celebrated in Paush and Ashadh month. Navratri is an important festival of India which is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over India. This worship has been going on since prehistoric times, before the Vedic era. In Navaratri, huge fairs are held at the Shakti Peethas and Siddha Peethas of the Goddess. The importance of all the Shakti Peethas of the mother is different, but during the Navratri, grand fairs are organised at all places. Navaratri festival is considered to be the most auspicious and best time for offering prayers to Maa-Durga. During this festival, Goddess Durga is worshiped for the entire nine days. During this time people also fast for nine days. Different forms of Maa Durga are worshiped over nine days during Navratri. The energy of the first three days of fasting in Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Durga. The next three days of energy are dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and the last three days of energy are dedicated to Goddess Saraswati.
