Synopsis
Asterix and the Picts is the 35th book in the Asterix series. It is written by Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. When Asterix and Obelix rescue a mysterious Pict named MacAroon, they must journey to Caledonia, now Scotland, to return him to his lady love, Camomilla, the adopted daughter of the old king. However, the treacherous chieftain, MacCabeus, plans to marry her and claim the throne - with the help of the Romans! What with caber-tossing, bagpipes, malted water and an enormous otter in the loch, can the Gauls reunite MacAroon and Camomilla and enjoy some Roman-bashing along the way.
About the Author
Alberto Aleandro Uderzo; born 25 April 1927, is a French comic book artist, and scriptwriter. He is best known for his work on the Asterix series and also drew other comics such as Oumpah-pah, also in collaboration with Rene Goscinny. Throughout some more creations and travelling for a few years, he eventually met Rene Goscinny in 1951. Goscinny was born in Paris in 1926, to a family of Jewish immigrants from Poland. The two men quickly became good friends, and decided to work together in 1952 at the newly opened Paris office of the Belgian company, World Press. Uderzo retired from drawing in September 2011.
