1st Time Users do it in 2 steps. 1st step Soak very good quality henna powder in cold water overnight or at least for 4 hours. First wash with shampoo to clean dirt in hair. This will enable henna to stick and coat well. When hair is dry or slightly moist apply the henna mix. Leave on for about 2 hours. You can keep up to 4 hours. Put on plastic cap to prevent becoming too dry. If you don’t have plastic cap wrap a polythene bag or polythene sheet, even the polythene bag you get while buying grocery will do. Wash very well with water. Rinse well enough to remove henna mixture. DO NOT shampoo. Hair may become red or brown, does not matter. Indigo powder will turn it black by clinging to the henna in the hair. 2nd step Mix indigo powder with water to the same consistency which we usually do for henna in any bowl. Let it soak ONLY for 15 mins. Dye gets released within a very short time. Apply to hennaed hair. If hair is slightly moist after washing off henna does not matter. Leave on for forty-five mins. Not necessary to keep longer. The indigo mix will cling to henna well. Keep plastic cap on after applying so that the paste does not dry. Wash and rinse with water very well. THEN apply a good quality conditioner to the hair to prevent hair from becoming too dry. Then wash off conditioner also with water. You will find your hair has turned Black using natural products: henna and indigo leaves powder. From 2nd time onwards say after a week or 10 days of 1s t application. Take 1/3rd quantity henna and 2/3rd quantity indigo leaves powder. Soak the henna as in 2 step application, wash and clean hair with shampoo. Before application soak ONLY for 15 mins indigo leaves powder with water and mix it very well with the henna paste. Apply on hair and leave for 1 hour. Wash and rinse with water. Use a good conditioner and wash well.
