About the Author
Robert Anderson received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley. In addition, he received in 1959 from the Sorbonne his Docteur de 1'Universite de Paris, with mention Tres Honorable. He has taught sociology and anthropology at Mills College since 1960, and was named Edward Hohfield 'Professor of Anthropology in 1969. He has authored, with B. G. Anderson, "The Vanishing Village "and "Bus Stop for Paris: The Transformation of a French Village "and has written numerous articles. Dr. Anderson's other books include "Traditional Europe: A Study in Anthropology and History, "and "Modern Europe: An Anthropological Perspective."
