Description

Maha Mrityunjaya Yantra, when translated literally, means victory over death. This particular Yantra is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is known to be the god of destruction and is known to protect one against problems related to the soul such as anxiety, stress, tensions etc. The Yantra also comes in handy when the planetary alignment of Saturn and Mars is opposite to each other causing accidents or untimely death of a person.

Lord Shiva to whom Maha Mrityunjaya Yantra is dedicated is the conqueror of death. He is believed to be the god who can be pleased easily and grants boons to mankind. When one worships him and has faith in his protection he/she cannot be harmed by evils of the mind, soul or body. He is believed to protect his followers from untimely deaths and accidents. He is known to banish fear from the hearts of his followers and make them courageous. He is a god that is widely respected and worshipped by people. This Yantra is also prayed to for a long and healthy life.

The worship of this Yantra is also carried out in the same manners as those of the others except for the mantra or Beej mala that has to be recited during the worship. The mantra that is to be recited is as follows, “Om hoom joom saha, Om bhu bhuva Saha, Om triyambakam yaja mahe sugandhim pushthi vardhanam urvaruk miv bandhanani mrityor mukshiye mamritat, Om swaha bhuva, bhu Om saha, joom hoom Om.” When this mantra is being recited to invoke the Yantra there should be a picture of Lord Shiva in the altar along with the Yantra. The mantra must be recited with flowers in hand for 11, 21 or 108 times. Sandalwood paste, milk and amrit are also needed for this puja to be a successful one and to please the lord.

Maha Mrityunjaya Yantra of Lord Shiva is considered to be a very powerful one. It is believed that if the Yantra is dipped in water during or after the puja and drunk by a person it helps to control or cures the person of the disease. This water can also be sprinkled around the house to create an ambience of comfort and safety. This water which is blessed by the dipping of the Mahamritunjay is known as “Charnamrit”.

The Yantra after worship can be fixed on the outer gates of the house. The depiction of the Mahamritunjay Yantra is similar to that of the Mahakali Yantra that has triangles enclosed by circles and eight petals which in turn is enclosed y four doors however at the centre of the Yantra there is star present.

This particular Yantra is meant for protection and is a very useful thing to have. The Mahamritunjay Yantra is useful mostly for people who are prone to sickness and those who are being troubled by the supernatural. The Yantra can also be used by people who are not courageous enough to face their fears. The Yantra is said to help people out of tough situations and lend them the courage to overpower untimely deaths. Accidents that might have been fatal have also been known to be avoided when one had the Yantra.

To sum it all up this Yantra is a gift from the Lord Mahadev to mankind to protect them from harm and evil.
