About The Book
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created Sherlock Holmes, a fictional detective, known for his ability to crack the most difficult cases. Holmes first featured in Doyle's works in 1887 and now there are four novels and 56 short stories that revolve around his case-solving abilities. Dr. John H. Watson is a good friend of the London-based detective and narrates nearly all stories about Holmes. Holmes's popularity began to increase greatly with the publishing of the first batch of short stories in the Strand Magazine.
These short stories in Set-Sherlock Holmes (5 Books) were set during 1880 and 1914. Doyle finished writing the first batch of short stories in a span of 10 years, but he soon put an end to Holmes in The Final Problem, which was released in 1893. However, he was forced to bring the detective back to life in one of his subsequent works, titled The Adventure of The Empty House. A Case of Identity, which is a part of this collection, revolves around Miss Mary Sutherland who asks Holmes to help her find her shy, attentive husband, who has disappeared suddenly.
The Adventure of The Final Problem is a short story that introduces the readers to Professor Moriarty, who's up to no good in London. While Holmes resolves to put an end to the evil professor, the criminal genius won't rest till he's done the same to Holmes. Few other stories in this collection include The Adventure of The Dancing Men, The Adventure of Black Peter and The Adventure of The Three Students.
