Description

Ganesh Lakshmi Lord Ganesha (the God of intelligence) and Goddess Lakshmi (the Goddess of wealth and prosperity) are worshipped by their devotees to attain wealth along with intelligence. Lord Ganesha is invoked during every celebration as He is the remover of obstacles who removes all hindrances in a person's life. It is a renowned ritual to worship Ganesha and Lakshmi together, especially on the eve of Diwali. The Ganesh Lakshmi Idols are used to receive the blessings of both deities. Ganesh Lakshmi Statues And Their Religious Importance It is said that there was a time when Goddess Lakshmi became very arrogant about Her powers and wealth. Once She kept bragging to Her husband, Lord Vishnu about Her importance that He decided to teach Her a lesson. Lord Vishnu calmly informed Her that no matter what good qualities a woman has, she is not complete unless she gives birth to a child, motherhood is the ultimate joy a woman can feel. And since Lakshmi did not have any children, She was not complete. Hearing this Lakshmi felt dejected and went to Goddess Parvati for help. Parvati had two sons and Lakshmi requested Her for adopting one of them. Parvati was reluctant at first because it was universally known that Lakshmi does not stay at one place for long. She later relented to Lakshmi's persistence and allowed Her to adopt Ganesha. Lakshmi blessed Ganesha with prosperity and accomplishments. Lakshmi also said that those worshipping Her without worshipping Ganesha will not be blessed with wealth. It is hence that we always worship Ganesha before worshipping Lakshmi. The significance of this story is that anyone acquiring wealth without wisdom will squander away the wealth. Therefore one must first gain knowledge and wisdom to spend the wealth.
