Learn More about the Book

"Sometimes our gut instincts are not just a feeling that something is not right. It can be an actual warning sign to beware of consequences that may follow a certain decision."

Being raised in a dysfunctional home lead Jean down a path of many mistakes. Her life as a child was filled with secrets, nightmares, and fears. She never received the love and acceptance as a child that she always craved. When she found love after she moved from Houston to Louisiana, she had to leave it behind and move back to Houston. The move was caused by another dysfunctional situation she found herself in. Life in Houston for this small town girl was filled with one mistake and regret after another. She was too trusting. Without the proper guidance for her to mature into a well rounded adult, her lack of maturity carried into her young adulthood. Jean learned many of life's lessons through the mistakes she made. Not trusting her gut instincts was one of the things she struggled with through so much of her life. She finally broke away from the co-dependent relationships she always settled for. With God's help Jean began to believe in herself, and saw the positive changes in her life she always hoped for.

About the Author

Jean Stevens was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Based on experiences in her childhood and her adolescence, she was on a path that would lead to many mistakes and regrets in her adult life. After she truly gave her life to Christ it began to change. She rediscovered the passion for poetry she once had as a teenager. She was encouraged to tell her story, and to place the poems that she had written into her book. The poems she wrote were the beginning of the process to finally forgive those who were responsible for the hurt and pain she carried around for so many years. It was also the start of a cleansing process to leave all the mistakes, regrets, and hatred behind. Those were things she had to let go of to fulfill her purpose in life. Writing this book was part of her purpose, to let others know that you can change your life if you really want to. You may not be able to do it on your own, but the good news is you don't have to. God placed dreams within her that she couldn't let go of. One of those dreams was to become a writer. Although she felt that her lack of education would cause the dream to not happen, she depended on God to bring it to pass. Ms. Stevens currently resides in Houston, Texas.
