The Focal Length of the lens measures 10.4 - 37.1 mm, (35 mm conversion). For still images at 16:9 it ranges from 29 - 105 mm whereas for still images at 4:3 it expands to 30 - 108 mm. For 16:9 movies the focal length is 33 - 120 mm with SteadyShot Active.

DSLR styled Optical Zoom control ring
The 3.6x optical zoom offered by the Sony Cybershot QX100 Smartphone Camera is one of the main functions of the camera. The zooming function is similar to that of a DSLR. You can manually adjust the focus and zoom by rotating the control ring.
